Automate a defined task
A useful automation has a clear input and a visible output. A topic brief can lead to a keyword suggestion, an article draft, and a saved review item. A vague instruction to grow traffic is not a measurable publishing task.
Keep the release decision visible
Decide whether new drafts require review or can be published automatically. Cove defaults to review-first. Automatic hosted publication is an explicit setting, and a mechanical checklist cannot verify every factual or legal claim.
Watch the runs, not just the results
Look at queued, running, completed, and failed jobs. If a provider is unavailable or an allowance is exhausted, the workflow should show that state rather than claim success. Retrying should not silently create duplicate published articles.
Revisit your brief
As your products, audience, or positioning change, update the context used by automation. Review published work periodically. Automation can maintain a routine; an editorial owner maintains the purpose.
